Overview: 

Pure Imagination Labs’ Technical Production Manager is responsible for managing the technical aspects of bringing a product, project, or event to fruition. This position will ensure all technical components are properly planned, sources, integrated, maintained, and operated to achieve the desired output and remain on schedule and within budget. This role is a bridge between technical teams (engineers, IT, technicians, developers and creative or experience-focused teams (designers, artists, product owners, event organizers) that emphasizes the execution, logistics, operational and managerial oversight through project completion.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead coordination with scenic, fabrication, and construction vendors from design through final install.
  • Translate design intent into executable build and install plans, accounting for structure, access, serviceability, and guest interaction timing.
  • Review fabrication drawings and submittals to ensure scenic elements support embedded hardware (monitors, sensors, lighting, panels, effects).
  • Manage install logistics and sequencing in partnership with the Project Manager and Technical Experience Producer.
  • Track fabrication milestones and flag risks to scope, timeline, or physical feasibility.
  • Coordinate install readiness and physical integration for system vendors (e.g. robotics, simulators), ensuring fit, access, and alignment with scenic, control, and infrastructure teams.
  • Own documentation related to physical integration: mounting diagrams, lift and access paths, rigging points, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Participate in scenic mockups and walkthroughs to validate build feasibility and guest experience.
  • Lead on-site coordination during installation and activation phases, working closely with the Hardware Integration Specialist and vendors.
  • Ensure all scenic systems meet standards for safety, usability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Ensure that final installs meet performance, safety, and usability standards and that all interactive components are physically testable and serviceable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college/technical school required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience managing scenic fabrication and installation for immersive, museum, themed, or exhibit environments.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across fabrication shops, construction crews, and install vendors.
  • Proficiency with project tracking tools, milestone schedules, and site coordination workflows.
  • Familiarity with construction safety, infrastructure access, and maintainability standards.
  • Strong coordination skills and fluency in reading and interpreting CAD plans, shop drawings, and integration diagrams.
  • Clear, confident communication across technical, fabrication, and creative teams
  • Hands-on experience overseeing full install cycles—from pre-fab review to on-site execution.
  • Willingness and ability to be on-site during installation phases and lead troubleshooting in the field.
  • Experience working directly with fabrication shops, scenic vendors, and construction teams.

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Proven ability to track physical and technical milestones across multiple vendors and workstreams.
  • Experience working in themed entertainment, education-focused environments, simulation environments, or LBE.
  • Familiar with embedded hardware integration within scenic elements (e.g., monitors, buttons, sensors).
  • Working knowledge of CAD or 3D layout software fluency (e.g., AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Rhino, Revit, etc.).
  • Experience leading scenic coordination on projects with high guest interactivity or embedded physical interfaces (e.g., interactive props, control panels, hands-on exhibits).
  • Flexibility to travel for live staging and working on-site for integration testing, commissioning, and post-launch support.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, external vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.

 

o Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.

o Required Residence: This candidate must live or reside in the state of Kansas; or relocate within six (6) months of offered employment.

o Required Travel: This candidate is required to travel up to 25% for specific project installations.

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), medical leave, and a variety of other perks. A bonus and incentive plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, dependent on the level and position offered.

Annual Salary: $120,000 (bonus eligible)
